The impact of these words is evidenced by the fact they are published in over 700 hymnals. The song is a testimony to the thoroughness of Christ's atonement and sacrifice. Christ's sacrifice on the cross was so powerful that it literally wipes out all of the penitents sin. There is no sin so egregious that it cannot be forgiven by God, who loves all of His creation.
As you survey, in your thoughts, all of the wrong you may have committed, know that God so completely loves you that He will forgive ALL of your misdeeds and you can begin the rest of your days with a clean slate. All you need do is recognize your sin, confess it to Him and ask Him to forgive you, and finally, commit your life to following Him all the remaining days of your life..
